We treat the entire spectrum of mental disorders in people from the age of 18 to old age, in particular:

  • Depression
  • Stress-related disorders (burnout, psychosomatic pain disorders, sleep disorders)
  • Acute stress reaction and adjustment disorders
  • Psychoses
  • Bipolar affective disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders
  • Dementia and other organic diseases with mental symptoms
  • Trauma-related disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Eating disorders (Short intervention for comorbid psychiatric disorders, no specialized eating disorder programme)
  • Addictive disorders

We have developed special inpatient therapy programmes for patients suffering from depression, stress-related disorders (burnout/exhaustion depression and psychosomatic pain disorders) or obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Our integrated psychiatric-psychotherapeutic approach uses modern biological and psychotherapeutic treatment methods.

Our treatment includes:

Diagnostics and treatment planning
Careful diagnosis and joint planning of treatment goals are essential prerequisites for any treatment. In consultation with the attending medical and psychological specialists, patients receive a comprehensive, individually tailored treatment plan. We attach great importance to psychoeducation, i.e. providing information about mental disorders and therapy methods.

Medical treatment
Each patient is assigned a medical or psychological specialist. They are responsible for diagnosis and therapy planning, regular therapeutic discussions and the overall coordination of treatment. Discussions with relatives and contact with referring physicians and aftercare professionals are also an essential part of the inpatient stay. As a rule, weekly ward rounds take place on the wards with a member of the medical staff.

Somatic specialists
We involve our internal medicine and neurology specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of physical disease.

Neuropsychology
Neuropsychological issues, such as dementia or ADHD assessments, are clarified by experienced psychologists.

Nursing care
The nursing team is available around the clock to deal with patients' concerns. The nursing staff provide helpful support in everyday life and in crisis situations and offer therapeutic activities on the wards. Particular importance is attached to the nursing reference person, who works closely with the responsible medical or psychological specialist.

The following additional services are available for customised therapy:

Biological therapies
Treatment with psychotropic drugs aims to treat symptoms effectively and with few side effects and is also used to prevent relapses. Other biological methods complement the therapies. These include chronotherapeutic procedures (light, wake and dark therapy), biofeedback, ketamine treatment, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT with brief anesthesia).

Psychotherapeutic treatment
Psychotherapy is integrated into the services offered on all wards. Our scientifically based therapy methods are based on the principles of Cognitive Therapy as developed by Klaus Grawe. In addition to individual consultations with the responsible medical or psychological specialist, couples therapy and family discussions are also possible as part of psychotherapy. A comprehensive group therapy program is also available on all wards. Group therapies are selected as part of a collaborative treatment plan.

Specialist therapies
Specialist therapies make a valuable contribution to recovery. The offers in group and individual settings are put together individually.

The benefits of ergo- and physiotherapeutic treatments have been scientifically proven. By activating creative and body-oriented resources, they significantly support the recovery process.

Social counseling
The social counseling specialists advise, accompany and support patients - and their relatives if required - in the areas of finances, legal and social insurance issues, work, housing, daily structure and social networking. This opens up new perspectives for many of those affected, which have a positive influence on the rehabilitation process. Innovative new services, such as job coaching, which can be continued after leaving the clinic if desired, complement the wide range of social counseling services.

Peer work
People who have had personal experience of psychiatry due to a mental illness support our patients as peer workers, either individually or in peer groups. Peer workers can pass on valuable experience and convey hope.

Food and nutritional counseling
Healthy and tasty food is an important part of an inpatient stay. If you have any questions about nutrition (e.g. eating disorders, weight reduction or food intolerances), you can make an appointment with the nutritional counselor.

Complementary services
Depending on the ward, various complementary services are available. These include NADA ear acupuncture, aromatherapy, shiatsu and animal-assisted therapy.

Other services on the wards
Depending on the focus, each ward offers additional services, e.g. activation therapy, mindfulness exercises, fitness activities, cultural activities, excursions, etc.

Further
Quality assurance
This is ensured by a strong evidence-based approach and ongoing critical review of the methods we use.

Self-help groups
Attending a self-help group can complement inpatient or outpatient treatment. Selbsthilfe Zürich provides information about self-help groups, offers advice on finding the right group and arranges contacts to self-help groups for those affected and their relatives.

Clinic Pastoral Care
Our patients and their relatives are supported by two chaplains. They work on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Reformed Church and are available to all people, regardless of their religious affiliation.
